Ngong Hills consists of seven rolling hills forming a ridgeline at the edge of the Great Rift Valley. Most hikers summit between 4 to all 7 hills, depending on pace and fitness level.


2. Where does the Ngong Hills hike start?
The official starting point is the Ngong Hills Main Gate, managed by the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) — located near Ngong Town, about 45–60 minutes from Nairobi by private transfer.


3. What is the hiking distance and how long does it take?
The full Ngong Hills trail is approximately 12–14 km (point-to-point), taking 3–4.5 hours depending on fitness, weather, and number of hill summits.
We typically hike one-way with vehicle pickup at the other end, unless guests prefer a loop version.


4. What is the Ngong Hills entrance fee?

  • Kenyan Citizens: approx. KES 200
  • Residents: approx. KES 600
  • Non-Residents: approx. $5–$10 (paid at gate; included in NairobiPark.org tour pricing)
    Fees go to Kenya Forest Service for conservation support.

5. How difficult is the hike?
Moderate difficulty — suitable for anyone with average fitness.
Expect a mix of steep uphill climbs, windy ridges, and open sun exposure.
We adjust pace to your comfort — this is not a rushed commercial hike.

  • 12:15 PM — Option for lunch stop in Karen or return to Nairobi
  • 2:00 PM — Drop-off at hotel or airport (or continue to optional attraction like Giraffe Centre)
