Your two-stop wildlife day

A morning safari with a giraffe-focused finish

Start with a morning game drive in Nairobi National Park, then visit the Giraffe Centre for close viewing, supervised feeding and conservation education. This private tour combines a safari and a giraffe-focused visit with agreed Nairobi pickup, transfers between the two stops and return transport.

Two adults: US$250 total for the safari service, equivalent to US$125 per adult. Solo traveller: US$230. Guest Nairobi National Park tickets, Giraffe Centre admission and meals are additional.

Choose this combination if you want a substantial morning safari and one nearby attraction before returning in the early afternoon. The elephant nursery is a separate experience and is not included in NNPT7.

Request availability and your total price with your date, party size and pickup point. Quote NNPT7 — Nairobi National Park and Giraffe Centre.

NairobiPark.org coordinates the safari enquiry and arrangements. Kenya Wildlife Service manages the park, while the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife manages the Giraffe Centre. NairobiPark.org is separate from both organisations.

Explore your two wildlife stops

Nairobi National Park game drive

The city skyline beyond the park landscape. Photo credit

Explore open grassland and other park habitats with your driver-guide. Rhinos, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, antelope and birds are among the park’s wildlife; lions and leopards are also present. The route follows conditions and wildlife activity, so individual sightings are not guaranteed.

Plan around approximately four hours of game viewing in the illustrative schedule below. That gives the safari a clear place in the day instead of treating the park as a quick transfer stop. Your actual viewing time depends on gate procedures, pickup location, road conditions and the agreed return deadline.

The route is not a promise to reach every dam, viewpoint or landmark. If photography, rhinos or birdwatching is your priority, include it in your enquiry so the guide can assess what is practical within this outing. For longer waits at sightings, compare the full-day Nairobi National Park safari.

Giraffe Centre visit

Giraffe at the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi, Kenya
Giraffe conservation and close viewing. Photo credit

The Giraffe Centre adds an educational, close-viewing experience after the game drive. Meet its conservation programme for Rothschild’s giraffes and follow staff guidance during any feeding activity. Use the food provided by the Centre and supervise children closely around the viewing area.

Giraffes seen in the national park and those at the Centre are part of different visitor experiences: in the park you observe free-ranging animals across their habitat; at the Centre you focus on giraffe conservation and controlled interaction. You are not buying access to the Giraffe Manor hotel.

The Centre recommends 1½–2 hours for a fuller visit including its educational activities and nature area. Our model itinerary allocates 1½ hours. A longer visit can change the return time, so mention it when planning. Giraffe Centre visitor guidance.

NNPT7 adult rates

Choose your party. See your service price.

Guest admission at both attractions and meals are additional.

The private safari service costs US$230 for one adult, US$250 for two adults and US$320 for four adults. The table applies to your own adult booking party; a lower per-person rate for a larger party does not represent a seat on a shared departure.

Adults in your partyTotal safari-service price (USD)Price per adult (USD)
1$230$230
2$250$125
3$285$95
4$320$80
5$340$68
6$360$60
7$378$54

Guest admission at Nairobi National Park and the Giraffe Centre, meals and any agreed supplements are extra. Tell us your exact pickup and drop-off points so your written proposal identifies any airport parking, waiting-time or additional transport charges before payment.

These are adult-only rates. Send each child’s age for a family calculation. The party-size table is a pricing schedule; the assigned vehicle’s passenger seats, child arrangements and luggage space must fit the actual group. Larger parties can request a separate arrangement.

How much are the attraction tickets?

KWS park tickets are separate from the vehicle-and-guide service. The applicable charge depends on the visitor category and travel date. Prepare the correct tickets after the tour arrangements are confirmed; our Nairobi National Park entry-fees guide explains ticket preparation.

The Giraffe Centre publishes the following admission rates:

Giraffe Centre visitor categoryAdmission per person
Non-resident adultKSh1,500
Non-resident child aged 3–12KSh750
Eligible resident adultKSh400
Eligible resident child aged 3–12KSh200
Child under 3Free

The Centre accepts M-Pesa, Visa and Mastercard. Bring identification supporting your admission category. Its official rates describe resident eligibility for qualifying East African citizens and permit holders; check your documentation with the Centre if unsure. Attraction age bands do not determine the safari-service child price. Official Giraffe Centre rates and visitor FAQs, checked 14 September 2026.

What should two adults budget?

For two non-resident adults, start with US$250 for the private safari service plus KSh3,000 for two Giraffe Centre tickets. Add two applicable KWS park tickets, meals if wanted and any agreed supplements. The currencies are shown separately so your budget does not depend on an assumed exchange rate.

Request a complete cost breakdown for your party, including everyone’s admission category and children’s ages.

Your day in order

Morning safari, giraffe visit, afternoon return

Allow approximately 6½–7 hours for the complete outing. This is a planning model, not a fixed transfer-time guarantee. It includes a four-hour safari window, a transfer allowance and a focused Giraffe Centre visit.

Approximate timeActivity
6:00 a.m.Pickup from your agreed Nairobi location
6:30–10:30 a.m.Nairobi National Park morning game drive
10:30–11:00 a.m.Transfer allowance to the Giraffe Centre; traffic and exit route affect timing
11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.Giraffe Centre visit
12:30 p.m. onwardReturn transfer, with drop-off around 1:00 p.m. where location and traffic allow

For airport-area pickups, gate choice and the park route should be planned together rather than adding a fixed city-centre driving time. The transfer allowance above must be checked against your actual route. Lunch is not scheduled as an included meal; ask for a stop if you want one, with food paid separately.

Plan around your available time

Choose the timing that works for you

Morning departure

Morning is the recommended starting arrangement for this product. It places the main game drive first and leaves the Giraffe Centre for late morning. It also provides a clearer early-afternoon return plan for visitors continuing with other Nairobi activities.

The trade-off is that the Centre identifies 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. as its busiest weekday window. Private transport does not provide private access or a queue-jump privilege. If avoiding busy periods matters most, discuss a revised sequence and the resulting change in safari time. Official visitor FAQs.

Later start by arrangement

A later departure can be assessed against the Centre’s 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. opening window, your available time and the park schedule. Do not assume that the full morning itinerary can simply be shifted several hours later without changing stop order or viewing time.

Use the timing preference in your enquiry to request a workable plan. A later start is a request, not a guaranteed second departure or an advertised discount.

Tight schedule or airport layover

Provide your flight numbers, arrival and departure times, airport and luggage details. A feasible layover requires enough time for arrival procedures, the tour, the return transfer and airline check-in—not just the hours between flights.

If you cannot comfortably allow the complete outing, compare the half-day park-only tour before adding the Centre. The return plan must accommodate traffic and delays; no flight connection is guaranteed.

Before you reserve

Your vehicle, pickup and family details

Your Land Cruiser and driver-guide

Your safari vehicle is private to your booking party. A pop-up roof supports wildlife viewing and photography, while the driver-guide handles the game drive and agreed transfers. Attraction visits take place alongside other visitors.

For parties travelling with suitcases, child seats, a pushchair or mobility equipment, request the proposed seating and storage arrangement before accepting the booking. Do not assume that a priced passenger configuration leaves room for everyone’s airport luggage. Ask about language requirements when enquiring; a particular guide or language is not guaranteed unless agreed.

Pickup arrangementInformation needed

JKIAFlight number, scheduled times, bags and pickup/drop-off requirements

Your written proposal should confirm pickup time, meeting instructions, vehicle allocation and any supplement. If you add a lunch stop, another attraction or extra waiting time, agree the timing and cost before travel.

Children and accessibility

Families benefit from combining a vehicle-based safari with a more focused attraction visit, but an early start and several hours out still need planning. Send every child’s age, including infants, and any seating requirements. A child’s free attraction entry does not automatically make the whole tour free.

Discuss mobility needs in terms of vehicle boarding, standing time, paths and equipment storage. Ask for specific arrangements for the assigned vehicle and attractions rather than relying on a general accessibility label.

Bring identification, ticket confirmations, comfortable footwear, a warm layer for the early start, sun protection and appropriate payment methods. A camera or binoculars can help you enjoy distant wildlife. In wet weather, allow the driver-guide to adapt the route to road conditions.

The Giraffe Centre sits outside the national park on Nyumbi Road, off Duma Road in Lang’ata. Its location makes it a separate attraction stop, not a place visited on the park’s internal game-drive roads. How to book

From your chosen date to a confirmed tour

  1. Choose your party and date. Use the adult table as your safari-service reference. Include every child’s age and your pickup/drop-off points.
  2. Request availability for NNPT7. Use the booking enquiry page or email bookings@nairobipark.org. Add timing preferences, flight details and luggage requirements where relevant.
  3. Review the written proposal. Check the total service price, guest admission charges, vehicle allocation, operator/payment recipient, timing and any supplements.
  4. Confirm and pay as instructed. An enquiry alone does not hold a vehicle. Review the applicable cancellation and change terms before payment.
  5. Prepare your tickets and meeting details. Buy the correct KWS guest tickets after the arrangements are confirmed and retain the instructions for pickup and attraction payments.

NairobiPark.org’s published standard is a 50% deposit, with the balance payable before the tour unless otherwise agreed. Short-notice bookings may require full advance payment. Read the booking and cancellation terms with your proposal; supplier charges may have separate conditions.

Good to know

Your two-stop tour questions, answered

How much is the tour for two people?

The adult-only safari-service total is US$250 for two adults, or US$125 each. Add guest Nairobi National Park tickets, Giraffe Centre admission and any meals or agreed supplements. Couples with children should request a family calculation.

Is this a half-day tour or a full-day tour?

Allow approximately 6½–7 hours door to door for the model morning programme. Labels vary between tour sellers, so compare the actual game-drive time, attraction visit and return schedule. This tour is longer than a short park-only outing and shorter than the three-stop combination.

Is Giraffe Centre entry included in the price?

No. Both attractions’ guest admission charges are separate from the safari-service rate. Vehicle and driver park entry are included in the service scope; your personal park ticket is a different charge.

Can I feed giraffes on this tour?

Supervised feeding forms part of the Centre experience when offered under staff guidance. Use its approved food and follow instructions. Do not feed animals during the national park game drive.

Does this include Giraffe Manor or the elephant orphanage?

No. Giraffe Manor is a separate hotel experience, and the Sheldrick nursery is a separate attraction. Choose the linked three-stop tour if you want the nursery added, subject to its booking requirements.

Do I need to book the private tour in advance?

Yes—arrange your vehicle, pickup and itinerary before travel. Paying for an attraction ticket does not reserve the private safari service. This two-stop product does not require a Sheldrick reservation because it does not visit the nursery.

Is this a private or group-joining safari?

It is a private booking for your party. The prices for larger adult parties reflect travelling together, not guaranteed shared seats. The park and Giraffe Centre remain public attractions.

Will I see elephants or all of the Big Five?

Nairobi National Park has no free-ranging elephant population. This tour does not include the elephant nursery, and no animal sighting is guaranteed. Book it for the park safari and giraffe conservation experience.
